Prach – jeho neviditelné, drobné a často velice nenáviděné částice nás provází již od počátku světa. Jsou všudypřítomným svědkem dění i nositelem komplexních informací. Stojí za vznikem planety Země i všech organismů na ní. "Prach jsi a v prach se obrátíš," praví Bible (Genesis 3:19 B21, Vyhnání z ráje). Avšak dokážeme i dnes v tomto nečistém a pro mnohé nevítaném, alergenním materiálu zřít krásu, potažmo božství?

Výstavní projekt Lenky Zadražilové s názvem Božské částice navazuje na nejméně tříletou uměleckou studii Sbírání prachu. Jejím bytostným posláním je přiblížení a celková estetizace prachu skrze zkoumání možností jeho využití v umění. Autorka prach nejen sbírá, ale také jej klade do kontextů, ve kterých je možné ho nazírat z neobvyklých úhlů pohledu. Tento materiál rovněž transformuje prostřednictvím hry s jasně stanovenými pravidly a postupy. K shromažďování prachu a jeho použití v tvorbě autorku vedlo uvažování o procesu prášení se na umění v galerijních depozitářích a o následné devalvaci uměleckých děl. Rozhodla se proto z této nechtěné situace vytvořit něco prospěšného a pozitivního: začala prach z obrazů i skrze obrazy sbírat za účelem jeho estetizace a významového pozvednutí. Tam, kde mnozí intuitivně nachází nečistotu a banálnost, se Lenka Zadražilová snaží diváka dovést k vidění krásy a neobyčejnosti, počátku a konce všech věcí, nevratnosti času a k uvědomění si vlastní smrtelnosti. V její instalaci se tak prach stává nejen uměleckým dílem, ale jeho smítka jsou rovněž vnímána jako božské částice, velkolepé a všeobjímající záznamy bytí s existenciálním přesahem.

Aktuální instalace představuje zalaminované nasbírané vzorky prachu z autorčina bezprostředního okolí, které jsou upevněny na vertikální drátěné konstrukci. Vlasy, drobné nečistoty či drobky společně dotvářejí komplexní zkoumání možností využití prachu v umění, snahu o jeho zkrásnění a přiblížení i širší skupině diváků v tom nejlepším a nejsrozumitelnějším světle. Kromě estetizace prachu a jeho povýšení na umělecké dílo se instalace zabývá i demonstrací naší největší podvědomé antipatie vůči němu: prach, jak je nechvalně známo, vytváří vrstvy, například na nábytku, skle či osobních věcech. Tím nám ovšem znemožňuje čistě zřít objekty, skrze které se mnohdy definujeme. V tomto okamžiku se prach stává clonou nad naší vlastní identitou. Ironický je ovšem fakt, že navzdory naší nelibosti je prach majoritně výtvorem našich vlastních odumřelých kožních buněk či výsledkem naší práce na tomto světě. V jistém smyslu si tak znejasňujeme vidění my sami. Tento zážitek nabízí i aktuální instalace: v závislosti na našem úhlu pohledu nabízí vystavený objekt různé kombinace jednotlivých vrstev prachu, čili různé kombinace zastření našeho pohledu na samotný prostor galerie, okolní svět i sebe sama. Zbývá si jen položit otázku, zda je opravdu nutné, aby vše bylo perfektně čisté a jasně definované, aby to pro nás bylo přijatelné a snad i božské?

Lenka Zadražilová (*1999, Jihlava) je studentkou Ateliéru malířství 3 FAVU VUT a Učitelství výtvarné výchovy a vizuální tvorby pro základní a střední školy Pedagogické fakulty Masarykovy univerzity. Ve své tvorbě se věnuje především malbě, prostorovým instalacím z různorodých materiálů a výrobě autorských knih. Často se v projektech zabývá vztahem umělec – dílo – divák a prozkoumává možnosti obrazu, malby, fotografie, archivu a různých přístupů k nim.

Dust – its invisible, tiny and often much hated particles have accompanied us since the beginning of the world. They are omnipresent witnesses of events and bearers of complex information. They are behind the creation of planet Earth and all organisms on it. "Dust you are and to dust you shall return," says the Bible (Genesis 3:19 B21, Expulsion from Paradise). However, can we still today see the beauty, and even divinity, in this impure and for many unwelcome, allergenic material?

Lenka Zadražilová's exhibition project entitled Božské částice (Divine Particles) is a continuation of her at least three-year artistic study Sbírání prachu (Collecting Dust). Its essential mission is to approach and aestheticize dust through exploring the possibilities of its use in art. The artist not only collects dust, but also places it in contexts in which it is possible to see it from unusual points of view. She also transforms this material through a game with clearly defined rules and procedures. The artist was led to collect dust and use it in her work by thinking about the process of dusting in gallery depositories and about the subsequent devaluation of artworks. She therefore decided to make something beneficial and positive out of this unwanted situation: she began to collect dust from and through paintings in order to aestheticize and elevate its meaning. Where many intuitively find impurity and banality, Lenka Zadražilová tries to lead the viewer to see beauty and the extraordinary, the beginning and the end of all things, the irreversibility of time and the realization of one's own mortality. In her installation, dust becomes not only a work of art, but its specks are also perceived as divine particles, magnificent and all-encompassing records of existence with an existential overlap.

The current installation presents laminated dust samples collected from the artist's immediate surroundings, which are fixed on a vertical wire structure. Hair, small dirt or crumbs together complete a complex exploration of the possibilities of using dust in art, an attempt to beautify it and to present it to a wider group of viewers in the best and most comprehensible light. In addition to the aestheticization of dust and its elevation to a work of art, the installation is also concerned with demonstrating our greatest subconscious antipathy towards it: dust, as it is notoriously known, creates layers on, for example, furniture, glass or personal belongings. However, this makes it impossible for us to see clearly objects through which we often define ourselves. At this point, the dust becomes a veil over our own identity. Ironically, despite our dislike, dust is mostly the creation of our own dead skin cells or the result of our own work in this world. In a sense, we are blurring our own vision. The current installation also offers this experience: depending on our point of view, the exhibited object offers different combinations of individual layers of dust, i.e. different combinations of obscuring our view of the gallery space itself, the surrounding world and ourselves. The question remains, is it really necessary for everything to be perfectly clean and clearly defined in order for it to be acceptable to us and perhaps even divine?

Lenka Zadražilová (*1999, Jihlava) is a student of the Painting Studio 3 FAVU VUT and the Secondary School Teacher Training in Arts and Visual Creative Works of the Faculty of Education Masaryk University. In her work, she mainly focuses on painting, spatial installations from various materials and the production of author's books. In projects, she often deals with the relationship between artist – artwork – viewer and explores the possibilities of image, painting, photography, archive and various approaches to them.
